FAQs
Do you have any questions on the campaign backing the
FVF or the Nobel Peace?
Let us explain!
1 Who we are? The platform Nobel de la Paz 2010 para la Fundación Vicente Ferrer (2010 Nobel Peace Prize platform for the Vicente Ferrer Foundation) is the accumulation of the multitude of initiatives emerging in recent months around the candidature of the FVF for the Nobel Peace Prize. The platform includes all of us. It started with thousands of signatures collected in a facebook cause and has been growing with the backing of public institutions, businesses, citizens and the media, both in Spain and abroad.
2 When? On the second Friday in October, that is 8th October 2010, the Committee will announce the winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. The award ceremony takes place in Oslo (Norway) on 10th December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.
3 Where? The Nobel prizes are all given in Sweden, with the exception of the Nobel Peace Prize, which is given in Norway. It is not known why Alfred Nobel decided this when he wrote his will in 1895, but it is thought to be because the Norwegian parliament was the first to support the international peace movement.
4 Has any Spanish person ever won a Nobel Prize? Never in history has a Spanish person or institution won a Nobel Peace Prize. However, there have been two Nobel Prizes in Medicine for Spain: Santiago Ramón y Cajal and Severo Ochoa, and five in Literature: José de Echegaray, Jacinto Benavente, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Vicente Aleixandre and Camilo José Cela.
5 How can I help? The more we are, the greater our strength. Help us make our dove fly round the world in Peace. Spread the campaign. You can also help us by financing this campaign with a micro-donation of 2€. Thank you!
6 How is the campaign financed? The back-up campaign to the candidature of FVF is self-financed with individual contributions from all of us, which are used for all the work needed to present a candidature to the Nobel Prize: drawing up narrative documents and audiovisuals, the webpage of the platform, contacts with public figures in Spain and abroad who can endorse the candidature, follow-up and dissemination, etc. Once the campaign is over, any funds that have not been used will be handed to the Fundación Vicente Ferrer to finance their development projects in India.
