Peace. Peace does not only mean the lack of conflict but also a state of social wellbeing in which everyone’s basic needs are covered and their rights are respected.

Model of development. The Vicente Ferrer Foundation has created a model of human, social and economic development that encourages values such as dignity, freedom and decision capacity, in order to build a path towards peace.

People die, but their works remain. We understand that the Nobel Prize is not a posthumous award and that Vicente Ferrer will never receive it. Nevertheless, his legacy is his most significant achievement and therefore we ask the Nobel Peace Prize for the project of the foundation.

Uniting East and West. The joint work and the ongoing commitment between the Vicente Ferrer Foundation and the Rural Development Trust in India have made the project one of the most important references of cooperation.

2.5 millions. The FVF-RDT project covers 2,313 villages in the state of Andhra Pradesh, in Southern India, with over 2.5 million beneficiaries from the lower castes.

Different. It is a unique, revolutionary project which is totally committed to the integral development of the poor through education, ecology, social rights and the integration of women and the handicapped.

Community. The starting point and the target of the FVF project is the community. The union of common interests and needs organises people and strengthens their sense of belonging to a group. The Foundation provides resources to the development of communities, but it is the communities themselves that generate and maintain the cycle of development.

Sustainability. The direct participation of all members of the community in the development process increases the ability of self-management and decision thereby guaranteeing the sustainability of projects and raising the level of self-esteem.

Silent revolution. The model of development of the Foundations declares that the challenge of the new millennium, that is reducing extreme poverty, is possible. A silent revolution started in India over forty years ago and continues to this day.

A Nobel Prize for the future. The prize is not only to applaud success. It is more importantly an acknowledgement. The Nobel Prize would be a tremendous boost to a model without limits. We don’t want the Foundation to make history. We want it to win the future and for the project to expand.
